Make Waves as a Lifeguard! Join our fun, energetic team at the Sterling Recreation Center, where you'll be the hero keeping swimmers safe and ensuring everyone has a blast! As a Seasonal Lifeguard, you'll keep a watchful eye on swimmers, enforce pool safety rules, and jump into action when necessary. When you're not actively guarding, youll pitch in with pool and facility cleaning to keep everything in tip-top shape.
What You'll Do:
- Watch over swimmers and enforce pool and facility safety rules.
- Step in quickly to prevent accidents or hazards and perform rescues if needed.
- Educate patrons about pool rules while keeping the fun going!
- Maintain the pool area: from locker rooms to the pool deck, youll help with cleaning and upkeep.
- Assist with safety protocols and report any health concerns or safety issues.
- Attend training sessions to keep your lifeguard skills sharp.
- Work flexible hours, including mornings, evenings, and weekends.
What You Need to Thrive:
- Lifeguard Know-How: Familiarity with lifeguard procedures and swimming pool operations (well train you!).
- Strong Communication: Speak clearly and professionally, giving instructions and guidance to both guests and coworkers.
- Good Judgment: Make quick, safe decisions while staying calm under pressure.
- Adaptability: Be open to new information and flexible when things change.
- Certifications: Youll need to pass the Red Cross Lifeguard Training and CPR-PR certification (well provide this training, and it must be kept up to date).
- Positive Attitude: Represent Sterling Recreation Center with a friendly, helpful, and professional demeanor to the public, coworkers, and everyone you interact with.
Education & Experience:
- Education: No formal education required, just a minimum age of 15 to apply.
- Experience: None requiredtraining will be provided!
- Certifications: Upon hire, youll get certified in American Red Cross Lifeguard skills and CPR-PR, and youll need to maintain these certifications throughout your employment.
