Description
Under limited supervision, performs responsible technical and clerical duties processing supply inventories for Public Utilities. Work involves maintaining adequate inventories of parts and supplies, entering inventory data into computerized files, researching prices for various items purchase per item and in bulk. Employee must exercise independent judgment and attention to detail in properly recording and storing stock items. Reports to the Stock Room Supervisor.

Essential Job Functions
- Maintains stockroom; receives and reviews incoming supplies and non-stock shipments from vendors checking invoices for accuracy; enters data into computerized system to create history documentation and monitor inventory levels and recommend adjustment to inventory levels as needed.
Researches stock and / or non-stock special order supplies utilizing online vendors, using schematics; parts diagrams online; technical and parts manuals to identify correct components to purchase. Confers with technicians and computerized history to select correct supplies to order.
Obtains quotes for competitive pricing; issues parts and supplies.
Tracks and distributes previously ordered supplies for scheduled repairs.
Drives City vehicle to obtain parts and supplies.
Operates forklift, reach truck, and pallet jack to load, store and unload supplies.
Answers telephone calls and handles customer and vendor inquiries.
Follows up on ETA of parts, warranties, defects and other discrepancies with vendors.
Reviews and reconciles invoices with Bank of America Purchasing Card computer system (Works).
Performs other related duties as required.
Required Qualifications
Graduation from high school, and 3 to 5 years of experience in supply acquisition or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities. Requires valid driver's license.

Retirement (Virginia Retirement System employer) for employees hired on or after 1 / 1 / 14 - Hybrid Members
Hybrid plan members contribute 4 percent of creditable compensation to the defined benefit plan and 1 percent to the defined contribution plan each month. Sick Leave
Part Time employees earn 4 hours per month Sick leave accrues at the end of the month and may be accrued with no ceiling.

All regular full time employees are granted 24 hours of personal leave each calendar year. Personal leave must be preapproved and is not cumulative.

Employer Sponsored Short Term and Long Term Disability

Life Insurance
The city pays the entire premium for life insurance coverage in the amount of 2 times annual salary for natural death and 4 times annual salary for accidental death.
Optional Life Insurance
Employees have the option of electing additional life insurance coverage in the amount of 1, 2, 3 or 4 times their annual salary. Employees may only purchase optional life insurance on spouses and children if they are enrolled in optional life insurance for themselves.
Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA)
