What are the responsibilities and job description for the Farmer's Market Atttendant - LTE position at City of Sun Prairie?
Under the leadership of the Market Manager, this position will assist with market setup, oversight and clean up.
Dates and hours needed: Every Saturday – May – October approximately from 5:30am – 12:30pm.
Starting rate of $15.00 per hour.
Major Duties
- Process customer SNAP benefits and distribute petty cash reimbursements to vendors
- Set up and take down road closure barricade
- Check vendors in and out
- Set up and oversee the information booth
- General event oversight
- Answer vendor or attendee questions
- Handle petty cash to process "Vendor Bucks"
- Take down "No Parking" signs
- Attend all required meetings and trainings
- Assist manager in marketing duties, i.e. taking photos, posting on market social media accounts during market hours, etc.
- Other duties as assigned
Minor Duties
- Notify coordinator of problems and concerns regarding vendors, attendees and/or residences
- Distribute any needed supplies or information to vendors/attendees
- Complete time card on time and hand into the coordinator
- Arrive on time, dressed appropriately according to the dress code and ready to interact with coworkers, vendors and attendees
Experience/Education
- Minimum of 1 years of working with event setups
- Must have valid driver's license.
- Must be able to lift 25 lbs. or more.
- Strong communication skills is a must.
Knowledge
- Knowledge of Farmers' Market or Market setup.
- Knowledge of standard safety practices.
Skill/Ability
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Ability and willingness to understand and effectively carry out oral and written instructions
- Ability and willingness to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other staff, venders, attendees and the public, and to deal with them in a courteous and tactful manner
- Strong oral communication skills
- Ability and willingness to maintain a safe and positive market
- Ability and willingness to supervise and maintain control of market
- Ability and willingness to keep accurate records and complete any necessary paperwork
