NATURE OF WORK
This classification involves overseeing operations of building/landscape/equipment maintenance at various City park properties and other field facilities. An employee in this position supervises assigned facility/park operations and staff; directs daily activities; maintains equipment and inventory as needed; purchases supplies; provides support for special events and meetings; inspects to ensure facility cleanliness and maintenance; and prepares reports. This position also monitors expenditures; troubleshoots problems; and provides customer service.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Oversees and administers assigned operations such as providing: preventative maintenance and daily work order programs; regular inspections of parks and facilities; facility attendants scheduling and evaluations; oversight of pavilion/hall rentals and maintenance/custodial operations for all parks and facilities.
- Directs and coordinates the day-to-day work of assigned crews; prepares work schedules; assigns employees to work areas; answers questions; and assists employees during work in progress.
- Provides daily inspections of the facility to identify and prioritize maintenance projects and work to be done.
- Participates in the performance of maintenance projects as necessary.
- Ensures cleanliness of facility.
- Secures and schedules necessary materials, supplies, and equipment for work.
- Orders and food and/or paper products.
- Maintains inventory of equipment necessary to perform job functions of the work group.
- Assists with development of annual budget and capital budget estimates.
- Prepares and submits daily reports to supervisor on facility/park usage.
- Provides customer service to patrons.
- Troubleshoots supporting department software programs and databases.
- Works special events.
- Works nights and weekends as needed.
- Performs related work as required.
EDUCATION
- Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of G.E.D. equivalency diploma
- PROOF OF THE HIGHEST LEVEL OF COMPLETED EDUCATION MUST BE SUBMITTED AS AN ATTACHMENT WITH APPLICATION. (Applications without attached proof of education will not be processed for consideration.)
- Reasonable work experience in the area of parks, facility maintenance, and aquatic facility maintenance; Some supervisory experience preferred. Ability to work flexible schedule which may include nights and weekends
- Must be a current City of Sunrise Employee
- Must possess a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
- Must obtain a valid Florida driver’s license prior to hire.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Physical:
- Physical capability to effectively use and operate City assigned vehicles, golf carts, and manual or power tools
- Ability to perform heavy manual labor as required
- Ability to climb, balance, bend, stoop, squat, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, push and/or pull, twist and make repetitive hand movements
- Ability to walk, stand and sit for prolonged periods of time
- Ability to load, carry, lift, push and/or pull objects weighing up to 50 pounds
Work Environment:
- Work is performed in various environments including standard office, recreational facilities, and outdoors. Tasks are regularly performed with moderate exposure to adverse environmental conditions including inclement weather, severe temperatures and exposure to water, which may not be accessible to the physically handicapped.
- Work hours may vary as needed and may include evenings, weekends and holidays. The position may require travel to various locations in the City of Sunrise area.
Sensory:
- The ability to perceive and differentiate visual cues or signals. Tasks require the ability to communicate orally and in writing.
- Must have the use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through personal contact, the use of the telephone and/or other City-issued technology devices.
