What are the responsibilities and job description for the STREETS EQUIPMENT OPERATOR position at City of Surprise?
SUMMARY
Incumbents operate light-construction and maintenance equipment in the maintenance, repair, and alteration of City streets, drainage, sidewalks, curbs, gutters, and other facilities. Incumbents also perform semi-skilled and unskilled manual labor, and other projects as assigned. Incumbent may also operate heavy duty construction and maintenance equipment based on operational needs appropriate to the incumbent’s license. The Transportation Streets Division consist of several crews: Asphalt/Crack Seal/ Seal Coat, Concrete, Right of Ways, and Street Sweeping.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or GED, and two years of experience operating light-duty construction and/or maintenance equipment. Additional education cannot be substituted for experience.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must have and be able to maintain a valid Arizona Commercial Driver License (CDL), Class B or higher.
Must have and be able to maintain a valid DOT Medical Certification Card.
Ability to obtain and maintain ATSSA Flagger and ATSSA Traffic Control Technician within one year of hire.
SELECTION PROCESS
Applicants whose education, training and experience most closely meet the needs of the position may be invited to participate in a selection process to include a panel interview.
