What are the responsibilities and job description for the WATER OPERATOR LEAD position at City of Surprise?
SUMMARY
Incumbents serve as a lead to staff and perform skilled level work in the operation of groundwater production wells, water storage, water treatment plants, and water distribution systems. Incumbents are responsible for complying with regulations and permit conditions. Incumbents control treatment processes, perform troubleshooting activities, act as a technical resource to others, provide training, manage inventory, keep regulatory records, and use a computerized maintenance management system.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma, or G.E.D., and a minimum of four years of specialized plant operations experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above. Additional education cannot be substituted for experience.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must possess a valid Arizona driver license and have a Grade 4 Water Distribution System Operator and Grade 4 Water Treatment Plant Operator Certifications. A Lead Water Operator shall be responsible for acquiring a minimum of 30 Professional Development Hours (PDHs) every three years to maintain ADEQ certifications.
