Camp Counselor

ILLUSTRATIVE TASKS:

• Execute age-appropriate recreational activities, such as arts and crafts, sports, games, and nature exploration.
• Supervise and monitor campers during activities, meals, and free time to ensure safety and adherence to camp rules.
• Provide guidance, support, and mentorship to campers to encourage personal growth and social interaction.
• Collaborate with other camp staff to organize special events, trips, and themed activities.
• Maintain a clean and organized camp environment, including equipment and supplies.
• Communicate effectively with campers, parents/guardians, and fellow staff members.
• Address behavioral issues and conflicts using positive behavior management techniques.
• Follow emergency procedures and protocols as needed.
• Perform any and all other duties/responsibilities/tasks as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS:

• Knowledge of child development principles and age-appropriate activities.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Creativity and enthusiasm for working with children.
• Ability to collaborate and work effectively in a team environment and independently.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must be able to successfully pass a criminal background check and drug screening process.
• Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings during camp sessions.
• First aid and CPR certification (preferred).
• Previous experience in childcare, youth programs, or camp settings (preferred).
• Proficiency in English and Spanish required.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience will also be taken into consideration.
