The City of Syracuse Citizens Review Board is currently looking for qualified candidates for the position of Community Engagement Specialist
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE POSITION:
- Coordinate and maintain relationships with other agencies and grass root organizations to participate in events
- Research and analyze complainant and community needs to determine program direction and goals to present findings to Administrator for approval/guidance
. Provide direct service and support to individuals, or complainants, such as handling a referral or issues, conducting a needs evaluation, or resolving complaints.
- Make presentation to community groups, etc. about the purpose of Citizen Review Board and its policies
- Coordinate “What to Do If You Are Stopped by Police” presentations to the community, etc.
- Coordinate Board members participation in community engagement events
- Ensure the Board has the necessary materials for community engagement events
- Assist with writing Quarterly, Annual, and Special Reports related to the Boards community engagement activities
- Collaborate with data analysis/research to create community engagement initiatives
- Demonstrated skill in effective oral and written communication, including the ability to communicate results to a wide variety of audiences
- Assist in directing activities and preparation of public relations materials
- Analyze population/council district changes to determine the impact to the Citizen Review Board services
- Assists with the promotion of the community engagement activities through local advertising
- Contact community agencies, etc. about Citizen Review Board outreach opportunities and use word of mouth promotion when available
- Maintains an up-to-date knowledge of community resources, facilities and programs designed to assist complainants with multifaceted approach
- Other office related duties depending on the needs of the Citizen Review Board
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A. Graduation from a regionally accredited college or university or one accredited by the New York State Board of Regents to grant degrees with a baccalaureate degree and at least one (1) or more years of experience, or its part-time equivalent, in a law office or in an office environment with the goal of assisting the community; or,
B. Four (4) years of work experience, or its part-time equivalent, within a community or nonprofit organization, with at least one (1) or more of these years in a law office or in an office environment with the goal of assisting the community
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $49,981.00 - $57,537.00 per year
