Position Description
Tacoma Power is seeking a Real-Time Energy Trader (RTET). Tacoma RTETs optimize our resource portfolio by scheduling Tacoma's generation and power supply contracts, along with energy purchases and sales to ensure that the power supply obligations to Tacoma's customers are met in the most economical and cost efficient manner. The RTET seeks out real-time market opportunities and creates innovative transactions that maximize the economic benefits from hourly market fluctuations. Tacomas RTETs work collaboratively with the System Power Dispatchers in the operation of Tacoma's generating resources to ensure smooth transitions with load resource balancing, Western grid interconnection and Western Energy Imbalance Market operation.
Responsibilities include :
Standard rotating shift (up to 12-hours per work period) covering all 24 hours a day and all days of the year.
Qualifications
Minimum Education
Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering or related field
Minimum Experience
2 years of experience in wholesale energy marketing / planning, quantitative analysis or related utility operations
