What are the responsibilities and job description for the TVE Guest Services Team position at City of Tacoma?
Under general supervision by TVE staff, guest services will make up the 'guest experience' team. The guest services team performs a variety of duties at various city-operated venues such as fielding event and facility inquiries on the phone and in person during event time, providing travel and parking directions, or providing information on tickets and seating for public events. The guest services team also acts as hosts in multiple premium guest areas by welcoming guests and providing customer service to the area. Work is highly repetitive and usually of an intermittent or part-time nature.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Acts as host during events in clubs and premium customer areas.
- Provides general venue and event information on the phone and in person.
- Directs patrons to venues.
- Provides information on available parking in designated areas.
- Provides information on tickets and seating for public events.
- Directs calls to appropriate individuals during regular and/or working hours.
- Welcomes and directs on site visitors.
- Maintains security by following appropriate procedures.
- Performs related work as required.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Must provide availability to work a minimum of 65% of scheduled events each quarter (e.g., July through September).
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule inclusive of weekends, nights, and holidays.
- Frequent bending, lifting 15-20 pounds, exposure to multiple external elements, extensive walking and standing for long periods of time.
- Exposure to high-decibel sound may occur during working shifts. Hearing protection is highly recommended.
Ability to read, write and follow basic instructions.

- Prior public contact experience a plus.
- Previous experience in a customer service capacity on the telephone and in person is preferred.
- Fluency in foreign language(s) and familiarity with a variety of cultures and abilities is desired.
- Demonstrated familiarity with City, region, venues and events.
- Punctuality.
- Present a neat appearance to the general public.
- Maintain a polite demeanor.
- Work odd shifts of an irregular, part-time nature.
- Learn layout and seating arrangements.
- Understand and follow simple oral and written instructions.
- Meet and greet people in a pleasant manner.
