Description of Responsibilities:
The Police Officer at the City of Taft is tasked with maintaining public safety and order within the community. Responsibilities include patrolling designated areas, responding to emergency calls, conducting investigations, enforcing laws and ordinances, and aiding citizens in need. Officers will also engage in community outreach programs and activities to foster positive relationships between the police department and the community.
Required Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Basic Peace Officer Certification from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE).
- Valid Texas Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record.
- No prior felony or disqualifying criminal histories.
Required Skills:
- Knowledge of law enforcement practices, procedures, and equipment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain calm and make decisions under pressure.
- Proficient in the use of firearms and other law enforcement tools.
- Capability to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
