Job Description
To remedy all problems regarding domestic and non-domestic animals within the city of Tahlequah in addition to housing and caring for stray animals as needed.Classification: This is a safety sensitive position as defined by the United States Department of Transportation drug and alcohol testing regulations the Oklahoma Standards for Workplace Drug and Alcohol Testing Act and/or Oklahoma Medical Marijuana laws. As a safety sensitive classification you will be subject to drug and alcohol testing including random testing. Marijuana is one of the substances included in the drug panel screening. Possession of a medical marijuana license will not excuse you from the testing process or the consequences of testing positive for marijuana.
Job Responsibilities
- Answer citizens' calls regarding animal issues within the city.
- Maintain the city animal shelter.
- Keep the shelter clean and provide humane treatment to the animals housed there.
- Assist citizens who come to the pound seeking a lost pet.
- Work with citizen groups trying to place animals in adoptive homes.
- Maintain close communications with your immediate supervisor and develop that working relationship.
- Work to improve your skills and develop your abilities in your job.
- Other tasks and duties may be assigned to the employee by the supervisor in charge and/or city administration that are not included in this job description and may or/may not be in this department.

Education and/or Experience
1. High school diploma, or equivalent, is preferable
2. Knowledge of department equipment.

Mathematical Skills
Sufficient to timely perform the record keeping, reports, and/or cash handling required in the department.

Computer Skills
Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite products; in particular, Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Must possess a valid Oklahoma "Class D" Driver's License and maintain it throughout your employment.

- Must successfully complete required drug testing per City of Tahlequah's policies.
- Have and maintain a driving record sufficient to satisfy the insurance mandates placed upon the city.
- Establish employment eligibility under USDOL and City of Tahlequah rules and policies
