Description
The purpose of this position is to perform a variety of semi-skilled and skilled work in the maintenance, repair, alteration and construction of Public Work assets including facilities, equipment, fixtures, landscapes and grounds.
Duties Include, But Are Not Limited To The Following
Work Experience
Landscaper I
Requires one (1) year of experience in gardening, horticulture or landscape maintenance, including the use of hand tools and power equipment. Experience in landscape/horticulture at public facilities; i.e., arts centers, museums, stadiums, theaters, parks, golf courses and water treatment plants is preferred.
Landscaper II
Requires two (2) years of experience in horticulture and landscape contract administration, irrigation system repair, including the use of hand tools and power equipment. Experience at public facilities; i.e., arts centers, museums, stadiums, theaters, parks, golf courses and water treatment plants is preferred.
Candidates must have the minimum amount of work experience. Years of experience are based upon a full-time work schedule (2,080 hours per year). The sum of an applicant's full-time and/or part-time qualifying work experience must meet or exceed the stated minimum qualification. Education will not substitute for the required work experience; however, related unpaid and/or volunteer work experience may be used as qualifying work experience.

Description
The purpose of this position is to perform a variety of semi-skilled and skilled work in the maintenance, repair, alteration and construction of Public Work assets including facilities, equipment, fixtures, landscapes and grounds.
Duties Include, But Are Not Limited To The Following
- Install, irrigate, weed, fertilize and maintain landscaped areas.
- Trim and prune trees and shrubs; stake trees as necessary.
- Maintain the Tempe's Xeriscape Demonstration Garden.
- Inspect all landscapes including those adjacent to Public Works assets (buildings, sidewalks, fences, roadways, alleyways, etc.) to ensure that plants and trees do not cause damage to assets.
- Rake and clear leaves and remove debris from Public Works landscaped areas, walkways, parking lots, roadways, alleyways and surrounding areas.

- Possession or required to obtain within one (1) year of hire, a professional landscape contractor certification.
- Possession of a valid Arizona Structural Pest Control Applicator's License for Pest Control (B1), Right-of-Way and Weed Control (B3) and Turf and Ornamental (B5), is preferred.
- Possession of a valid driver's license.
- Possession of a professional landscape contractor certification.
- Possession of a valid Arizona Structural Pest Control Applicator's License for Pest Control (B1), Right-of-Way and Weed Control (B3) and Turf and Ornamental (B5).
