Position: Park Monitor

Department: Leisure Services Parks & Recreation
Starting Salary: $14.06 - $15.46
This is responsible work in monitoring park usage and enforcing City rules, procedures, and policies in City parks and athletic complexes. Works under the supervision of the Recreation Supervisor. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Performing park and athletic complex inspections, enforcing park and athletic complex polices, emptying trash receptacles, checking park restrooms and parks and athletic complex grounds for cleanliness. Work schedule will require evening and weekend hours.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Conducts regular inspections of Parks and Athletic Complexes
- Cleans Parks and Athletic Complex restrooms and grounds, and empties trash receptacles as needed.
- Assists in promoting public safety and positive public relations.
- Ability to learn and apply departmental and City rules and regulations.
- Must be able to stand firm on policies and control difficult situations.
- Ability to operate a truck; perform semi-skilled manual tasks.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees, patrons, and the public; exercise good judgement, courtesy, and tact when dealing with the public.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Ability to lift, carry, pull, push, or maneuver materials weighing up to 45 pounds.
Training, Certification, and Experience
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Work experience in heavy manual labor including grounds and general maintenance.
- Or an equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
Special Requirements
- Possess (or ability to obtain within 6 month of employment): First Aid, Automated External Defibrillator (AED), Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certifications.
- Minimum age, 18 years.
- Valid Florida driver’s license.
Copies of required certifications must be submitted with the application.
