ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN
Full Time
SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Examines buildings and electrical plans and specifications for compliance with codes. Checks foundation, walls, partitions, and roof after buildings are framed and checks for conformity with codes. Inspects electrical systems to ensure code compliance including protection against inferior material, faulty workmanship or deviations from approved plans. Makes final inspection after building has been completed to ensure that the construction has been done according to approved plans and in compliance with codes. Confers with contractors, architects, engineers and others regarding construction codes and building plans. Works with the general public reviewing buildings plans for compliance with city zoning ordinances. Inspects sites for practicality of plans for new construction and checks condition of soil before footings are poured. Reviews street and lot layout drawings for accuracy and conformity to standards. Performs a wide variety of clerical, planning and inspection assignments. Utilizes computer to maintain official records and record inspections. Makes investigations of complaints of violations of zoning ordinances, subdivision regulations, building, electrical, and plumbing codes and prepares reports. Conducts correspondence and holds telephone conversations with property owners concerning the above requests to inform them of submittals that do not meet minimum requirements and arrange for the needed corrections. Performs other duties as assigned.
POSITION SPECIFICATIONS:
Minimum Qualification include high school diploma or equivalent, current Arkansas journeyman or master electrician license, and a valid driver’s license. Must have computer skills and the ability to operate various office machines. Desired Qualifications include three years of experience in building, electrical or housing inspections, as well as current Arkansas Electrical Inspectors License, Arkansas Plumbing Inspector License, Arkansas Mechanical Inspector License. ICC Certifications – Residential Electrical Inspector, Commercial Electrical Inspector and additional ICC Certifications related to job duties a plus.
SALARY RANGE:
$47,028-52,540
