What are the responsibilities and job description for the Multimedia Specialist position at City of The Colony?
Create high-quality photographic, video, and graphic design content for the City of The Colony and The Colony Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB); advance the City’s communication and marketing strategies across various media platforms; support and serve as backup to Communications Manager; catalog, update and manage video and photography stock; maintain brand continuity throughout internal and external platforms, including digital, audio, and print media; and contribute to enhancing the City's social media across new and existing platforms.
- Serve as part of the City’s overall Marketing and Communication team related to: promoting and enhancing the city’s brand; advertising city programs, services, and attractions; emergency preparedness and response; special event promotion; road construction updates; essential public notices; and highlighting public/private partnerships.
- Transport, set up, and operate various production equipment including: cameras, audio and video recorders, lighting equipment, props, and microphones for location and studio production of videos and podcasts.
- Research topics, storyboard, write scripts, record, produce, edit, and execute various video projects, staying on trend and up-to-date with best practices.
- Serve as primary backup to the Communications Manager, including public information officer duties of copywriting, press releases, and media management.
- Attend and visually document events when necessary, which may include events at night or on weekends, including but not limited to: special events, public meetings, groundbreakings, and environmental services events.
- Conduct research, generate ideas, and create programs for airing on TCGTV.
- Operate the City’s audio/visual equipment during live broadcast of public meetings and edit recordings for playback on TCGTV and the website.
- Consult with subject matter experts to verify accuracy of content and its presentation.
- Assist with creation of the City and/or CVB’s digital media plan and digital advertising efforts, including: creation, layout, and production of content; schedules; social media; themes; programs; and contests.
- Assists with the City’s public website management through regular updates and content creation including copy and graphics.
- Create programs and methods to increase engagement and traffic to the City websites by monitoring and improving search-engine optimization and search-engine marketing and/or digital efforts produced by the City.
- Assist in maintaining City and CVB social media platforms; design graphics; track statistics/insights; monitor trends; and initiate on-site content, e.g. Facebook Live or Instagram Stories.
- Provide creative insight and guidance on how to best reach intended audiences and bring concepts, ideas, and stories to life, utilizing command of various elements such as design, branding, typography, color theory, animation and copy.
