POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
Deputy Public Works Director
City of The Dalles
Closing Date: Open Until Filled - First Review February 12, 2025
DEFINITION: Provides exceptional leadership and effective management of multiple divisions through communication and coordination to achieve the department goals. In consultation with the Director and Division Managers, develops and manages the goals, objectives, and direction of the Department of Public Works. Recommends and administers policies and procedures affecting public services provided by the Department. Manages the tasks, provides coordination, and assigns responsibilities for the major divisions of the Department. Develops and administers implementation of major public works projects.
QUALIFICATIONS: Any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the applicant with the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the job. A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skills and abilities would be:
Education: A bachelor's degree in Engineering, Public Utility Management, Business or Public Administration, or similar.
Experience: A minimum of four-years' supervisory experience leading a dynamic team of similar size or larger with a degree, eight years' experience without a degree.
LICENSES OR CERTIFICATES: Valid Driver's License
PAY: $96,190.74 to $118,302.48 annually, plus generous benefit package that includes medical, dental, vision insurances and employer-paid retirement contributions equal to 13.5% of base wage after one year of employment.
