POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
Transportation Division Manager
City of The Dalles

DEFINITION: Provides leadership and direction for the operation, maintenance, personnel management and capital improvement of transportation operations including all City- owned rights-of-way. Oversees projects, prepares bid documents and manages contract administration as needed for capital improvements. Ensures compliance with applicable regulations and best practices.
QUALIFICATIONS: Any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the duties and responsibilities of the job.
Minimum Requirements: Any combination of education and experience that provides the applicant with the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the duties and responsibilities of the job. A typical way to obtain this knowledge, skills and abilities would be:
Education: High School graduate or equivalent (GED, with post-graduate training in construction methods, safety practices and regulatory compliance, including American Public Works Association (APWA) standards for street construction.
Experience: Minimum of four (4) years of experience in street operation, construction, maintenance and/or design of street systems, with at least (2) years in a supervisory capacity. Experience with both hot-mix asphalt concrete and chip seal applications. Experience driving trucks and operating heavy equipment preferred.
CERTIFICATIONS AND/OR LICENSES: Valid commercial driver's license at the time of hire is desired. Class A CDL with Tanker endorsement required within 1 year.
PAY: $90,669.01 to $111,511.44 annually, plus generous benefit package that includes medical, dental, vision insurances and employer-paid retirement contributions equal to 13.5% of base wage after one year of employment.
