What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pickleball Instructor position at City of Thornton?
Classes can occur at Trails Winds, Carpenter, or the Community Center.
Under general supervision, instructs racquet/paddle sports classes and lessons.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Prepares, implements, and evaluates group and private racquet/paddle sports lesson plans.
Teaches racquet/paddle sports skills to participants of various levels. Instructs racquet/paddle sports classes.
Reserves courts for group and private lessons.
Coordinates dates and times for private lesson instruction.
Ensures all possible safety measures are observed.
Communicates and enforces facility and class policies and procedures.
Responds to emergency situations as required; maintains and forwards accurate accident and incident reports to supervisor. Reports parental/participant issues and concerns to supervisor.
Provides excellent customer service, including interacting with participants and/or parents to answer questions and resolve problems.
Monitors participant attendance against rosters to ensure that all payments are received.
Reports any issues and concerns to supervisor.
Complies with City and departmental rules and regulations, policies, and procedures.
Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Licensing/Certification Requirements:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of basic racquetball instruction or coaching tennis lessons to participants of all abilities.
Skill in performing Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid activities.
Skill in demonstrating basic techniques of the sport. Skill in conducting racquet lessons to participants of all abilities.
Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with the public.
Ability to effectively lead and coordinate classes or lessons.
Ability to demonstrate the appropriate racquet skills.
Ability to read, interpret and apply operating policies and procedures.
Ability to react quickly and accurately in emergency situations.
Ability to listen well and communicate effectively with the public.
Ability to promote and provide quality classes or lessons.
Ability to maintain composure during mentally, physically and emotionally stressful situations.
TESTING PROCEDURES
Examinations may include but are not limited to application screening beyond minimum qualifications; written, oral, practical exercise or any combination thereof or other job related assessment deemed appropriate by Human Resources.
