Overview
The City of Tigard is seeking a qualified Seasonal Utility Workers in various divisions. These positions may require weekend work. All seasonal positions are limited to 1040 hours and serve on teams in the parks, streets, sanitary/sewer or Surface Water Management (SWM)

Additional Information: Successful candidates must pass a physical capacities test designed to evaluate ability to perform the essential physical functions of the job.
Examples of Duties
Seasonal Workers in Parks:
- Performs a variety of semi-skilled manual labor duties in city maintenance services, construction, and repair operations within the Parks section of Public Works.
- Uses manual tools and occasionally operates trucks and medium-duty mechanized equipment.
- Individually or as a crew member, performs a variety of manual tasks in the construction, maintenance, and/or repair of city parks and grounds.
- Performs daily maintenance on assigned equipment.
- Responsible for work site safety.
- Cleans restrooms, picks up trash.
- Prepares picnic shelters for reservations.
- Sweeps and cleans work storage areas and equipment.
Seasonal Workers on "Surface Water Management" SWM
- Maintain water quality facilities in a clean and safe condition – picking up trash and litter
- Safely use string trimmers, hedgers, and hand tools to trim vegetation in water quality facilities and green spaces.
- Safely use mowing equipment to cut grasses and weeds in and around water quality facilities.
- Safely drive city trucks, (sometimes with trailers) to various work sites.
- Participate in inspecting water quality facilities, remove leaves/other debris, to ensure proper function.
Minimum Qualifications
Any combination of training and experience, which would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:
- Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth (12th) grade AND
- Six (6) months of manual labor or landscape experience.
NECESSARY SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS: Must be at least 18 years of age. Upon completion of reference checks, the finalist for this position will be extended a conditional offer of employment subject to passing a physical, drug screening and background checks prior to the final job offer. Must have a valid driver's license and good driving record.
Supplemental Information
Benefits: Seasonal employees are not eligible for Tigard's employee benefits packets.

Hours Status: 40 hours per week

Typical Full-Time Schedules
- Monday - Friday 7:00 a.m-3:30 p.m.
- Tuesday - Saturday 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
- Sunday-Thursday 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
Optional part-time, Flexible Schedules
- Weekend days
- Weekend afternoons/evenings example: 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM Saturday and/or Sunday
- Early mornings example 6:00 AM – 10:00 AM
