Examples of Duties
Tigard Police Officers perform law enforcement and crime prevention work including patrol and investigation. Sworn officers, enforce federal, state, and local laws, regulations and ordinances and performs a variety of duties including but not limited to the following :
Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience : Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying.
A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be : Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth (12th) grade and one (1) year of experience working with the public. Some college-level coursework in and / or volunteer law enforcement experience are desirable.

On the Public Safety Testing website :
Scores for applicants that pass the written test will be sent to the City of Tigard. Candidates with passing scores will be invited to submit a city application to schedule oral board interviews.
When Tigard receives passing test scores, candidates will receive an invitation to schedule an oral board interview. Be prepared to register by having a waiver form (https : / / www.tigard-or.gov / waiver) notarized.
The City of Tigard will request proof of passing ORPAT (https : / / www.youtube.com / watch?v=QgEJ69s5h3g) scores and may provide opportunities for those who have not passed the ORPAT to do so prior to entering the background process.
