Examples of Duties
The successful candidate will be a seasoned, self-motivated, and forward-thinking planner with a keen interest in challenging the typical patterns of lower-density development at city edge, a vision for more sustainable urban spaces, and the ability to build consensus around new models of development. The ability to manage large project teams, communicate with a variety of stakeholders, and attention to details will be critical elements of this position.
- Serve as project manager for the completion of a Comprehensive Plan for a 500-acre greenfield development recently added to the regional Urban Growth Boundary. The project manager will see that the city's ambitious goals for housing opportunity, diversity, and affordability as well as climate resiliency are met to the greatest extent practicable. This project has the potential to serve as a regional, statewide, and possibly even national model.
- Manage long-range planning projects, including legislative amendments to the city's Comprehensive Plan, Development Code, and other policy documents.
- Oversee or participate in the oversight of selected city programs related to housing, development, and climate.
- Coordinate with peers across the region and state to understand current best practices and regulatory frameworks.
- Bring a passion for new ideas and fresh perspectives to all areas of planning practice.

Schedule : Monday- Thursday (General hours between) 7 : 30 a.m.-6 : 00 p.m. with remote work opportunities
Compensation for Senior Planner The hourly range for this overtime eligible position is $41.84-$54.70 per hour. The starting pay assignment, based on an analysis of the successful candidate's related experience and education in accordance with the City's pay equity policy and the Oregon Equal Pay Act, would be no higher than $49.23 per hour.
