JOB SUMMARY
This position is responsible for designing, developing, and delivering a variety of training programs as part of learning and development initiatives within Public Works.
Under the general supervision of the Public Works Manager II, the role involves both independent work and collaboration with a team. Performance is regularly reviewed through observations, feedback on trainings, and the results achieved.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY)
- Conduct CDL Examinations : Perform skills tests, yard / range tests, and road tests in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Record and Submit Results : Ensure all test results are recorded and submitted according to established requirements.
- Maintain Compliance : Ensure testing records, facilities, and operations adhere to state and FMCSA standards.
- Audit Testing Records : Maintain accurate records and audit paperwork to ensure compliance with regulations.
- Collaborate on Training Development : Work with stakeholders to design, develop, and deliver training programs that align with the City of Titusville's values and operating philosophies.
- Create Learning Materials : Develop high-quality learning content, materials, and resources.
- Provide Specialized Advice : Offer expertise in training activities and organizational interventions.
- Facilitate Development Programs : Lead in-person training on topics such as management, leadership, and customer service as part of the City's Advancement Training.
- Manage Training Environment : Prepare, organize, and manage training settings to foster effective learning.
- Analyze Data and Prepare Reports : Analyze data related to activities managed or monitored by the section and prepare reports.
- Additional Duties : Perform other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills
Knowledge of CDL Operations : Strong understanding of safe truck driving principles, CDL regulations, and commercial vehicle operation requirements.Driving Standards Expertise : In-depth knowledge of driving standards and requirements for commercial motor vehicles.Training Practices Familiarity : Knowledge of standard training practices and materials for Public Works operations.Instruction and Report Preparation : Ability to interpret and carry out written and oral instructions, maintain records, and prepare detailed reports.Relationship Building : Ability to develop effective working relationships with employees and the public.EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Experience : Minimum of five (5) years' experience as a CDL driver.Training Experience : At least two (2) years of practical trucking-related training experience.Education & Experience : A combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Must possess a valid Florida Commercial Driver's license
During occasions of local emergencies this position may be required to report to perform emergency tasks, which may result in extended work hours as well as extended periods of time away from family members. The Incident Commander and the employee's department Head will make the determination as to who will be required to work.
