POSITION SUMMARY :
The Trades Mechanic for the City of Toledo is responsible for the installation, maintenance and repair of facilities and equipment for the various City locations and buildings. The Trades Mechanic will complete activities related to electrical, plumbing, carpentry, heating, air conditioning and refrigeration.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS :
- Maintains, repairs and / or installs plumbing, electrical, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning equipment and systems.
- Operates and / or maintains and repairs boilers and furnaces.
- Performs sheet metal work.
- Performs welding, carpentry, painting and masonry work.
- Repairs and unplugs sewers.
- Maintains and repairs mechanical equipment such as riding mowers and chain saws.
- Performs minor routine maintenance and repair on air compressors, trucks and tractors.
- Maintains and repairs fences.
- Reports to supervisor the necessity for major repair operations.
- Directs work of assigned workers in construction or maintenance and repair activities.
- Operates tools and equipment needed in the performance of duties.
- Maintains routine records.
- Performs other duties as required.

Deferred Compensation & 401(K)
The City of Toledo offers a voluntary governmental 457(b) deferred compensation plan, which is a retirement savings plan that allows eligible employees to supplement any existing retirement / pension benefits by saving and investing pre-tax dollars through salary deferral.
