The Department
The Position
The IT Network Support Unit coordinates the maintenance, testing, monitoring, security and troubleshooting for all centralized server IT hardware and software. As part of the IT Network Support team, the Information Technology Analyst (IT Network Support) administers and maintains email accounts, internet access, and server room. Together with the Systems Analyst, this position works daily with telecommunications and computer professionals to deploy new systems, modify existing networks, and troubleshoot problems. This position also handles non-routine or complex maintenance, testing, monitoring, security and troubleshooting and technical support for all centralized and server IT hardware and software and assists with and conducts the overall analysis and design of systems for network operations within the City.
Information Technology Analysts also assist in the analysis of client requirements for new and existing systems, makes subsequent recommendations, and designs appropriate systems to improve automation of City processes and client productivity.

An Associate's degree in Data Processing or Computer Sciences or a Certification in Data Processing;
AND
Three years of journey level related experience in technical computer support with at least two years of professional technical experience working with computer equipment and networks software currently in use by the City.
Licenses and/or Certificates
Must possess and maintain an appropriate California driver's license. Professional certification in applications, hardware and systems used by the City is highly desirable.
Successful candidates will possess the following:
- Proficiency in administering Microsoft 365 services, including Exchange Online, Entra ID, Purview, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Teams;
- Hands-on experience with server hardware in an enterprise setting, including data center maintenance, server installation, and network storage management;
- Advanced skills in managing virtualized platform clusters, such as Microsoft Hyper-V, Azure Local, or VMware vSphere;
- Experience working with network equipment, including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points;
- Proficiency in managing Windows Server environments, including Active Directory, File/Print servers, Group Policy, DNS, and DHCP;
- Experience overseeing backup solutions and disaster recovery processes;
- Strong understanding of security principles and experience with Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) solutions;
- Solid knowledge of scripting languages, with hands-on experience in PowerShell;
- Ability to offer technical guidance and training to end users;
- Capability to research, assess, and recommend new technologies;
- Self-motivation, with the ability to work independently and with minimal supervision;
- Strong desire to learn and stay updated with new technologies;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- A team-oriented attitude and the ability to work well with others;
- Knowledge in performing security audits to protect systems and equipment;
- Microsoft 365, Azure Associate, or Cisco Administrator level certification.
