What are the responsibilities and job description for the Day Camp Coordinator position at City of Troy Michigan?
The Troy Recreation Department is seeking a Day Camp Coordinator from June through mid- August to implement a safe, fun, and productive day camp activities.
DUTIES
- Establish relationship with camp leaders and monitor their progress throughout camp and keep appropriate paperwork for Recreation Supervisor
- Supervise Camp Leaders on site for day-to-day operations of camp
- Communicate with Recreation Supervisor, Camp Leaders and parents about status of camp
- Report all incidents and accidents to Recreation Supervisor along with completing appropriate paperwork
- Meet daily with staff to discuss activity schedules and problems
- Be present in water during swim time to provide safe and fun environment
- Lead large group activities
- Effectively evaluate Camp Leaders performances
- Serve as a role model with positive attitude and respect each child and be sensitive to their needs
- Establish relationship with each child, be aware of their progress at camp and keep appropriate paperwork
- Assist with other camp related duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Knowledge of arts and crafts, nature, games, and songs
- Prefer current First Aid
- As a condition of employment, the successful candidate must pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen (including marijuana)
PREFERENCES
- Prior experiences working with children
HOURS
Part-time; seasonal.
Monday - Friday; Training starting in May then Mid-June through Mid-August for camp season. 35-40 hours per week.
