Sports Field Monitor/Scorekeeper
Recreation - Part time

As a Sports Field Monitor/Scorekeeper with the Recreation Department, you will play a crucial role in the successful execution and management of Adult Sports Leagues including: softball, soccer, and/or basketball. This position involves overseeing the setup, and on-site operations of sports fields and courts to ensure a positive experience for all participants.
DUTIES
- Ensure facilities are prepared according to league schedules and standards, including day-of set up such as: putting out bases, balls, goal nets, flags, score sheets, and turning on field lights.
- On-site point of contact for league participants and officials.
- Monitor games to ensure compliance with league rules or rule clarifications that may arise.
- Manage paperwork including rosters, and perform roster ID checks.
- Manage equipment inventory and coordinate with the Recreation Department for necessary supplies.
- Gather and report game scores to the Recreation Department.
- Communicate effectively with Recreation Coordinators, Supervisors, league participants, and officials for task completion and questions/issues.
- Address issues and/or questions and report problems to the department.
- Report any field maintenance needs to the Recreation Department.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to work evenings, as league schedules dictate.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to navigate websites and electronic forms via smart phone and/or computer.
- Must possess a valid Michigan driver license with a good driving record (based on City of Troy standards). Out of state applicants must provide current driving record at time of application and obtain State of Michigan license within one (1) month of appointment.
PREFERENCES
- Interest in sports and working with the community.
- Knowledge of softball, soccer, and/or basketball rules and regulations.
- CPR and First Aid certification.
EVALUATION PROCESS
Applications will be reviewed and interviews scheduled in March for candidates with matching qualifications.
HOURS:
Weeknights (Mondays-Thursdays) 6-11pm. 15-20 hours/week. This position will begin the end of April and run through August, with potential to extend the position through October.
