Job Summary
Work involves performing a variety of tasks associated with developing and implementing recreational programs and managing recreational facilities. Employees in this job class are responsible for developing and coordinating recreation programs, activities, and special events for diverse groups of patrons. Senior Recreation Leaders may oversee and direct the work of others working within a recreation center. Additionally, they spend time developing relationships with their community members to help market and promote the facilities' activities.
Essential Functions
- Participates in the maintenance and upkeep of the recreation center building and the supplies and equipment used in the recreation center by inspecting facilities and equipment and ensuring supplies are available and needed equipment maintenance is performed.
- Develops, coordinates, and executes recreational programs, activities, and / or special events for various groups (e.g., recreation center patrons, seniors, youth, etc.) by planning, scheduling, and leading the activities in conjunction with existing programs and events.
- Develops and distributes marketing and advertising for programs, activities, and events of the recreation center in order to inform the community of the recreation center's offerings.
- Maintains records and files by completing various documents electronically and / or handwritten (e.g., supply usage, attendance, patron reports, contact information) regarding recreation center activities and programs.
- Develops and coordinates youth and / or adult recreational sports leagues by planning, overseeing, and participating in the implementation of the league.
- Supervises staff by assigning and distributing work, directing staff in their job duties, monitoring progress of work, providing feedback and / or training.
