Posting Close Date: Applicants must submit their completed application by 02-13-2025 at 11:59 p.m. MST ABOUT THIS JOBPosition Specific SummaryThe Art and Craft Instructor position at the City of Tucson’s Parks and Recreation Department is responsible for developing lesson plans and instructing participants in various arts and crafts activities for youth, while ensuring a positive and safe learning environment. Work is performed under the supervision of the Recreation Coordinator. This position does not supervise. Duties and ResponsibilitiesInstructs arts and crafts classes for youth of all skills and abilities, utilizing various mediums at multiple locations. Designs and develops new and engaging classes each session. Prepares and creates a syllabus for each class and submits supply orders. Leads a class size of up to eight (8) participants ensuring an organized and engaging learning environment. Explains and demonstrates different techniques to participants. Ensures participant safety by actively monitoring activities and reinforcing safety protocols. Follows all department policies and procedures. Completes required forms, reports, and records such as attendance logs, time records, including incident and accident reports. Maintains open communication with parents as needed. Supports facility operations by maintaining a clean and organized workspace, inventorying supplies, and reporting safety and hazard concerns to the leadership. Provides customer service by communicating clearly, answering questions, and welcoming all attendees and parents. Encourages and motivates participants to complete projects and develop creativity. Performs all other duties and tasks as assigned. All duties and responsibilities listed are subject to change. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSEducation: Six (6) months post high school Work Experience: One (1) year of directly related experience License: Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Application and Special InstructionsThis non-permanent position will work on an intermittent or seasonal basis.Individuals in this classification may not exceed 1,300 hours in 12 months.The Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid certification must be obtained within sixty (60 days) of hire and must be maintained throughout employment in this position.
