ABOUT THIS JOB
Position Specific Summary
The Front Desk Recreation Worker position at the City of Tucson’s Parks and Recreation Department provides in person and over the phone customer service to the participants of the City of Tucson’s Recreation Centers. This position collects payments for daily use and membership sales, checks out equipment, sets up room rentals, supports center-based programming, and helps keep the center organized and clean.
Work is performed under the supervision of the Recreation Program Coordinator. This position does not supervise.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Answers phones, greets and directs customers, checks out equipment to guests and tracks returns.Conducts weight room certification by showing guests how to properly use equipment. Helps with room rental set ups andutilizes the computer for point of sale and reservations.
- AssistsRecreation Program Coordinators with Schools Out Camps.Participates and assists with special events andprovides coverage for programs when other staff call out. Participates in community clean ups and substitutes for Ready, Set, Rec program when needed.
- Helps keep the center organized and clean by wiping down counters and equipment, removing trash and performing other maintenance actives as needed.
- monitors gym usage, ensuring guests are abiding by center rules and policies. Reports accidents and hazardous conditions, ensures safety of participants by enforcing rules.
- Performs all other duties and tasks as assigned.
Working Conditions
This non-permanent position will work on an intermittent or seasonal basis.
Individuals in this classification may not exceed 1,300 hours in 12 months.
Job sites are located throughout the city and hours vary Sunday through Saturday from 6 : 00 am-8 : 00 pm
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education : Some high school
Work Experience :
Under One (1) year of directly related experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATION :
Able to lift 25lbs
Three full months of employment or volunteer experience involving customer contact
Application and Special Instructions
Must be at least sixteen (16) years of age at time of application
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and First Aid Certification must be obtained within 90 days of hire and must be maintained throughout employment in this position.
