ABOUT THIS JOB
SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
The Engineering Manager for the New Area Development Division of the City of Tucson’s Water Department manages and coordinates the review and acceptance of developer financed projects by effectively leading and supervising personnel. Applies Engineering Seal to Tucson Water Job Order Contract Plans for short main extensions. Ensures that developer financed projects comply with local, state and federal regulations. Administers the City of Tucson’s Water Service Area Policy.
Work is performed under the supervision of the Water Administrator. This position exercises supervision over division personnel.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides training, counseling, and mentoring to staff. Conducts employee reviews and approves bi-weekly payroll. Provides effective leadership and supervisory oversight of section staff. Ensures section staff has the necessary resources and guidance to ensure successful review of developer financed projects- .

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:Education: Bachelor's Degree
Work Experience: Five (5) years of directly related experience
License: Professional Engineer (PE) license - Arizona Board of Technical Registration (ABTR)
Equivalency: Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted on a year for year basis
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering
Five (5) years of demonstrated progressive experience in the design, construction, and management of water or wastewater projects/facilities
Experience in city, county, or state government: public or private utility experience
Supervisory experience and experience interacting with the public
