ABOUT THIS JOB
The Parts Specialist position at City of Tucson’s Fire Department is responsible for the acquisition and distribution of parts, materials, and supplies for fleet of emergency response vehicles and support equipment.
Work is performed under the supervision of the Emergency Vehicle Technician Supervisor. This position does not supervise.
Maintains parts and supply inventory to ensure availability of Tucson Fire Department’s emergency response vehicles and support equipment. Orders special parts and maintainsaccurate computerized records, researches the correct sources for purchase, logs parts orders, and aligns charges to the appropriate vehicles. Expedites priority and past due orders, resolves invoice discrepancies, handles returns, credits and warranties.
Processes payments for purchased parts and supplies using a Purchasing Card (pCard), reconciles invoices, and ensures accurate inventory levels through systematic tracking and computerized inventory management. Conducts regular physical inventory counts, coordinates with vendors to place orders, and replenishes depleted stock as needed.
Drives to pick up and deliver parts, equipment and supplies to and from vendor locations and to fire stations. Operates vehicles and forklift and conducts preventative maintenance.
Fulfills orders by collaborating with internal teams and vendors, utilizing initiative and independent judgment to uphold Fire Fleet Management standards.
Logs and tracks records of parts purchased in a fleet management software program. Maintains detailed records of parts invoices paid and reconciled.
Assists with general shop duties and related projects.
Performs all other duties and tasks as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education
6 months post high school
Experience
Two (2) years of directly related experience
Equivalency
Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
License / Certifications
Valid and unrestricted Arizona Class D Driver License - Arizona Department of Transportation - Motor Vehicle DivisionValid and unrestricted Arizona Class D Driver License - Arizona Department of Transportation - Motor Vehicle Division
