POSITION DUTIES AND QUALIFICATIONS
SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
Assists with a variety of land use planning projects. Reviews proposed land use changes for compliance with codes, area plans and policies. Provides assistance to the public regarding zoning issues and transportation programs. Drafts code amendments and related corresponding and coordinates projects.

Position Specific Summary
The Planner position at the City of Tucson’s Planning and Development Services Department assists with a variety of land use planning projects. This position reviews proposed development projects for compliance with local codes and standards, area plans, and policies.
Work is performed under the supervision of the principal planner. This position does not supervise.
Duties and Responsibilities
Reviews development projects proposed on private property daily for conformance with zoning codes. Analyzes the applicants plans and proposals, communicates corrections, comments, and recommendations to applicants via electronic permitting software. Processes and evaluates proposals for zoning modifications electronically- .

Work is primarily performed in an office environment, with occasional site visits.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Bachelor's degree
Work Experience:
One (1) year of directly related experience
License:
Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Full Hourly Range: $26.57 - 45.84 USD
