What are the responsibilities and job description for the School Crossing Guard position at City of Tullahoma?
SUMMARY
The School Crossing Guard is under the general direction of the Training Seargeant of the Tullahoma Police Department. This is a part-time position. Work hours are one hour during school opening and one hour during school closings, Monday-Friday except for school holidays.
EXAMPLES OF RESPONSIBILITY
· Safely assist children crossing the streets and intersections to and from school.
· Direct pedestrians across streets, stopping traffic when necessary.
· Monitor traffic flow to find safe gaps for pedestrians to cross.
· Report unsafe behavior of vehicles.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
· Knowledge of traffic laws pertaining to school zones preferred.
· Must have good judgement skills.
· Work well with children.
· Be able to think and act quickly in emergencies.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS
· Training will be provided.
