Description
This is a full-time, union position with benefits and time off, upon meeting eligibility requirements. Employees start out at pay range Level 1 and progress through seven pay range levels.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for the health, safety and rescue of all patrons in and around the pool at all times of operation.
- Consistently promote a positive, professional image at all times and provide consistent high-quality customer service.
- Inspect pool facilities, equipment, and water to ensure that they are safe and usable.
- Exercise discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance, including but not limited to, governmental and public relations; legal and regulatory compliance; and supervising the aquatics facility.
- Demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge of, and comply with, the facility rules, policies and procedures, and consistently and appropriately enforce them.
- Ensure safety of patrons; enforce rules and regulations; assure readiness of equipment; follow policies and procedures.
- Instructs or assists with aquatic related classes.
- Ensure facility cleanness and security.
- Assists with the management of the Municipal Swimming Pool(s) in the absence of manager or assistant manager.
- Tests water and adjust chemical feeders.
- Assists in planning, supervising, administering and training programs for pool personnel.
- Oversees physical care of pool facility, locker rooms, and shower area.
- Interacts with users to encourage maximum proper use of all facilities.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Must possess current American Red Cross Lifeguard Certificate, First Aid and CPR/PR certification. Desired Certifications include Water Safety Instructor, American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instruction, general business periodicals, professional journals and technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to recognize potentially unsafe conditions and behaviors and correct them in a positive and appropriate manner.
- Must attend required trainings.
- Regular in-person attendance is required.
- Must be eligible to work in the United States.
WORKING CONDITIONS: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, walk, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear. The employee may frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds.
