"SEASONAL POSITION ONLY - ONE (1) VACANCY"
Under the general direction of the Recreation Manager. Supervises and participates in the operating of a City of Tyler municipal swimming pool during the swimming season and performs other duties as required.
- Selects, trains, and directs assigned employees to operate assigned swimming pool and associated facilities safely and effectively.
- Directs and participates in the collecting of admission fees, maintenance of clean and sanitary conditions of facilities and in maintaining appropriate discipline of patrons.
- Maintains accurate records of fees collected, supplies and equipment used, of pool operations and payroll data of employees.
- Regularly inspects facility including filtration and chlorinating equipment and notifies appropriate City employees of malfunctioning systems.
- Must have good knowledge of group activity practices, of swimming pool facilities and operating practices.
- Must have the ability to train and direct assigned employees to accomplish objectives safely and effectively, to apply First Aid and resuscitation techniques effectively as necessary.
- Must have the ability to maintain accurate records.
- Must have the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with assigned employees, other City employees and the general public.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience: At least one two (2) years of experience as a lifeguard or pool manager preferred. Must be currently certified in American Red Cross Standard First Aid, CPR, and Lifeguard Training. Current WSI certification preferred. Must be available to work any shift upon date of hire until the pool closes for the season. Open swim pool hours; Thursdays 12:00 - 8:30 pm, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays 12:00 - 6:30 pm, and Saturdays 9:30 am - 6:30 pm.
Employees who complete at least 275 hours of work during the pool season will be eligible for full reimbursement of their certification costs. Employees who complete at least 240 hours of work during the pool season will be eligible for a partial reimbursement of their certification costs.
