What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sr. Utility Maintenance Repairman position at City of Tyler?
Provide hands on field training, instruct, and evaluate other maintenance repairers in job duties and assist when needed. Locate, mark, and record manholes and valves. Provide assistance in maintenance of sewer mains and water mains. Perform special assignments delegated by supervisors. Oversee productivity of maintenance repairers.
Must have an Associate's degree plus over five (5) years of experience in repair and construction of sewer collection systems; must have nine (9) years of experience in lieu of education. Must have 5 years' experience in operation of equipment used in relief of sewer stops and maintenance of sewer systems. Must be able to operate rod truck, vac truck, and water jet truck used in relief of sewer stops and maintenance of sewer systems.
Must possess TCEQ Class "II" Waste Water Collection License or have the ability to obtain within one (1) year. Must possess a valid Texas Class "B" CDL Driver's License with a clear driving record.
Must be able to work Monday – Friday 8:00am- 5:00pm, nights and weekends are required as well as being on-call every third week. Must have telephone. Prefer previous supervisory experience.

- Hands on training of new personnel in daily assignments.
- Locate manholes and record and mark for I & I.
- Oversee and evaluate productivity of other maintenance repairers.
- Assist maintenance repairers when needed.
- Fill in vacancy of maintenance repairer when needed.
- Perform special assignments delegated by supervisors.
- Assist engineering in new plats and corrections.
- Call for utility locates and schedule/prioritize sewer main repair jobs.
- Schedule preventative maintenance of collection system.
- Manage biweekly payroll and PTO requests for a staff of 30.
- Work with developers and contractors completing work for the City of Tyler.
- Must understand computer work-order systems.
- Must have experience using GPS with asset management software.
- Investigate customer complaints.
- Keep daily activity reports.
- Must have knowledge of water systems and appurtenances valuable in training of employees in
- procedures of maintenance and repairs to water and sewer systems.
- Must be able to operate tools and equipment used in maintenance and repairs to water systems.
- Must be able to operate locating equipment for locating valves and manholes.
- Must be able to bend/stoop/crouch/kneel/grasp, lift/carry 100 lbs.
- Must be able to walk up to 5 hrs. per day, and stand up to 6 hrs. per day.
- Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.
- Must be able to communicate with a variety of people; i.e., customers and co-workers.
- To perform essential function, work requires being onsite at City facilities as well as traveling to other locations.
