What are the responsibilities and job description for the Treatment Plant Operator III position at City of Tyler?
so that all treated water quality meets the State and Federal discharge permit requirements.
1. Operate and maintain wastewater treatment plant equipment and processes.
2. Perform physical-chemical analysis to monitor and adjust plant processes accordingly.
3. Monitor charts, meters, recorders, and equipment and adjust accordingly.
4. Troubleshoot equipment and treatment processes.
5. Service and maintain plant structures/buildings.
6. Maintain grounds with power equipment.
7. Collect samples from plant units.
8. Report equipment and process malfunctions.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
2. Possess the ability to comprehend technical manuals.
3. Perform other job duties as assigned
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
1. Must have a working knowledge of wastewater treatment processes, including activated sludge principles
and practices, anaerobic sludge digestion, and basic laboratory analysis procedures.
2. Must have the ability and skill to operate plant equipment and treatment processes.
3. Must have the ability to perform lab analysis on collected samples.
4. Must have knowledge of mechanical principles.
5. Must have the skill to troubleshoot plant processes and act accordingly.
6. Must know the principles of safety involving the use of hand and power tools, electrical equipment, and
hazardous materials.
7. Must be able to operate power equipment/tools.
8. Must be able to stand, walk, climb, reach, balance, and handle equipment 8 hours daily; lift and carry up to
100 pounds; stoop and bend 6 to 8 hours daily; push and pull up to 100 pounds; crouch, crawl, twist, turn,
kneel, and sit up to 1-hr daily; must be able to work in extreme weather conditions.
9. Must be able to work any shift assigned, including days, evenings, nights, swings, rotating, on-call/as
needed.
High School diploma or GED required. Must possess a valid Texas Class “C” Driver’s License with a clear driving
record. Must currently have a valid Class “C” Wastewater License as issued by TCEQ.
Once Operator II receives “B” WW Certification, they will become Operator II with pay class 210 (12). Available to work different shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as assigned. |
