What are the responsibilities and job description for the Venue Attendant position at City of Tyler?
Performs a variety of general building and grounds cleaning/maintenance tasks in an assigned work area. Set up for events and attend to the needs of the facilities during events. Provide excellent customer service to visitors and customers.
- Properly sweep, mop, wax and buff floors of Parks Tourism Facilities.
- Gather and dispose of all trash and waste.
- Clean restrooms.
- Wash walls and windows.
- Clean lighting fixtures, tops of windows, door frames.
- Change light bulbs and ceiling tiles with scissor lift.
- Operate and maintain mechanical cleaners and polishers.
- Set up tables, chairs, stages and other City rental equipment.
- Assist in moving objects.
- Complete delivery of department items.
- Perform grounds maintenance as required.
- Occasional overtime when needed.
- Maintain and organize equipment closets, report supply needs.
- Perform building maintenance as needed.
- Must have knowledge of common cleaning products, tools, brooms, mops, dust mops, vacuums, scouring devices, wax applicators, and
buffers
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS: - Must be able to follow written and oral instructions.
- Must be able to work with customers, i.e., internal and external.
- Must be able to perform routine repetitive tasks on a continuous basis.
- Must be able to maintain specified area for cleanliness.
- Must be able to move, carry or deliver objects necessary to work areas.
- Must be able to maintain cleaning equipment.
- Must be able to stand and walk up to 6 hours daily; lift, carry, and push up to 50 lb. up to 6 hours daily; occasionally pull up to 50 lb. twist, turn, crouch, kneel and sit 1-6 hours daily.
- Must be able to balance while performing duties and must be able to climb a ladder
Education and Experience:
High School diploma or GED preferred. At least 1 year of experience performing general cleaning duties and/or customer service experience.
A valid Texas Class “C” Driver’s License with clear driving record is preferred.

The City of Tyler will accept two years of relevant experience in place of each year of college required in the job description. Four years of relevant experience will be considered in place of an Associate’s Degree, and eight years of relevant experience will be considered in place of a Bachelor’s Degree. Any experience required in the Minimum qualifications is in addition to years of experience substituted for a degree. The City of Tyler supports a policy of a drug and alcohol free workplace.
