Job Purpose:
The purpose of this part-time position is to provide day to day operations, coordination and oversight of the City's Summer Enrichment Program (SEP) participants. Under the direct supervision of the SEP Director and Inclusion Coordinator, this position performs responsible work in the development and implementation of recreational activities designed to improve the quality of life of our program participants.
Essential Functions

- Supervises and interacts with program participants at recreation centers, parks, and other activity locations.
- Assists and/or plans, organizes, promotes and conducts activities for participants.
- Supervises children between the ages of 5 years to 12 years of age.
- Responsible for the logistics of up to 12 children at a time.
- Prepares promotional materials for program activities.
- Assists in the development and implementation of program goals and objectives.
- Keeps accurate records of activities, attendance, calendars.
- Addresses emergency/accident issues regarding patrons and facilities.
- Handles confidential and sensitive information in an effective manner.
- Represents the program to the participants, volunteers and community.
- Performs special projects and tasks as assigned by Recreation Supervisor and/or supervisory staff.
- Other related duties as required.
Responsible for following all prescribed safety rules and regulations; and utilizing and wearing appropriate safety gear. |
Follows and upholds City and departmental rules, regulations, policies and procedures. |
Reports to work free from the effects of drugs/controlled substances and/or alcohol, and free from impairment due to prescription drugs. |
Maintains regular attendance. |
The City reserves the right to require an employee in this position to work overtime including during emergency situations (defined as any natural or man-made disaster that may or may not necessitate the relocation of City personnel or citizens). In the event of an emergency and/or a required evacuation, the incumbent may be required to remain at work to provide needed services or perform essential duties for the benefit of the general public including services or duties different from those performed in the normal course and scope of the position. |
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Previous day camp, residential camp, childcare experience, or babysitter training preferred
- Extraordinary attention to detail.
- CPR and First Aid certified.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge and skill in recreation programming and activities.
- Ability to work shifts Monday - Friday 8:30 a.m. till 3:15 p.m. throughout the entire camp season.
- Ability to understand and communicate written/oral forms and instructions.
- Ability to communicate effectively in written and oral forms.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective and courteous relationships with participants, staff, vendors, volunteers and service providers.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to submit and maintain records efficiently, accurately and prepare clear and concise reports.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work under pressure.
- Ability to document and develop clear internal and external operational procedures.
Salary : $16 - $20
