The City of Upper Arlington, Ohio has one full-time (30-40 hours per week) GIS internship position open during the summer of 2025 from approximately May to September, or otherwise agreed upon terms.
The intern will report to the GIS Administrator in the Public Service Department. The intern will be tasked with mapping utility assets, transportation assets, structures, park amenities, special events and construction maintenance of traffic plans, and other city assets.
The intern will also gain experience creating map layouts and interactive maps as well as reading and organizing construction plans & as-builts, and learning about how a local government leverages ArcGIS Online.

The intern will assist the city's GIS and Public Service Departments with various tasks, including :
- Data and Map Creation, Editing, and Analysis using Esri ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online
- Field Data Collection
- Records Research
- Performs related duties as required by supervision
Applicants should possess knowledge of GIS principles and practices, working knowledge of GIS, familiarity with research techniques, and skill in the use of various basic software (Microsoft office, geodatabases, etc.). Previous experience with Esri ArcGIS Pro and Online is preferred.
