Pool Manager (Seasonal)

The City of Upper Arlington proudly operates three outdoor pools and is committed to providing safe and healthy experiences to all pool patrons. Under the direction of the Aquatics Manager, pool managers assure that the pool facility and recreational swimming programs are operated in the safest, most effective and efficient manner possible for all patrons. Lifeguard Training is available.

1. Supervises daily operation and maintenance of pool facility and equipment.
2. Monitors and maintains pool chemistry as required by Ohio Swimming Pool Code.
3. Assists management team with interviewing potential staff.
4. Schedules managers, lifeguards and pool office staff to insure proper staffing levels.
5. Supervises and evaluates pool staff and makes recommendations to Aquatics & Tennis Manager regarding employment, reemployment or dismissal.  
6. Supervises general swimming and program activities.
7. Strives to maintain positive interactions with the staff and pool patrons.
8. Coordinates staff in-service training with Aquatics & Tennis Manager and other pool managers.
9. Supervises swim lesson and special event programs.
10. Assists Aquatics & Tennis Manager in establishing policies, procedures and safety rules for pool staff and patrons.
11. Enforces and follows policies and procedures that ensure the safe, effective and efficient operation of the pool facility.
12. Prepares, maintains and submits records including, but not limited to, daily operations, water testing, pool equipment inspections, in-service training, accidents, rescues, and biohazard incidents.
13. Follows all established business and accounting procedures regarding the handling or transfer of monies, requisitions, and purchases of supplies and equipment.
14. Responsible for verifying and securing change fund and all daily receipts.
15. Assists Aquatics & Tennis Manager with preseason facility startup and end of season facility closing operations.
16. Oversees and maintains inventory of pool chemicals, facility equipment and cleaning, office and maintenance supplies.
17. Performs additional job-related duties as assigned by Aquatics Manager, Recreation Supervisor or Parks & Recreation Director.

1. College graduate preferred
2. At least three (3) years previous experience as a lifeguard, assistant manager or manager preferred.
3. Experience and/or training in aquatics and/or recreational activities desirable.
4. Current American Red Cross or equivalent certification in Lifeguarding, Waterpark Lifeguarding, or Waterfront Lifeguarding, CPR and First Aid.
5. Water Safety Instructor, Lifeguard Instructor or equivalent certification preferred.
6. References from present and past employers are required.

SALARY, HOURS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

1. The City of Upper Arlington will determine the hourly rate of pool managers annually.
2. Flexible scheduling.  A pool manager’s workweek consists of up to 40 hours.  
3. Hours worked in excess of 40 hours will be paid at the normal rate of pay with no provisions for overtime pay.
4. All pool managers must complete an annual drug screening and background check.

EVALUATION
The Aquatics Manager will evaluate the performance of all pool managers annually.
