The City of Vacaville is seeking a highly motivated, dependable individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment to join the Police Department's support team as a Police Records Specialist I. One full-time vacancy currently exists within the department. This recruitment will establish an eligibility list used to fill all vacancies that may occur over the next 12 months.

Police Records Specialists perform a variety of tasks within the records division of the Police Department. Some of these tasks include processing and maintaining police records, reports and other official documents with accuracy and attention to detail. Additional important aspects of the role are as follows:
- Responding to public requests for information while ensuring compliance with confidentiality laws and regulations
- Entering, updating and retrieving data from records management systems to support police operations
- Processing requests for reports, background checks and other information from authorized individuals and agencies
- Following legal guidelines to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion

ABOUT YOU
The ideal candidate must have strong communication skills and be able to work under pressure with frequent interruptions and with a high degree of public contact by phone and in person.
Additional desirable knowledge, skills and abilities include, but are not limited to:
- Ability to accurately review and process police records while ensuring data integrity
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize workload and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Capable of interacting professionally with the public, law enforcement personnel and other agencies
- Aptitude for addressing questions, resolving issues and exercising sound judgment across diverse situations
- Understanding of basic law enforcement terminology, procedures and recordkeeping practices
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Any combination of education and experience that would provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Education: Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade.
Experience: One (1) year of general office experience, including typing, computer usage and public contact, preferably in a law enforcement environment.
