- Visitor Engagement: Greet and assist park visitors, providing information on trails, wildlife and park activities.
- Education Programs: Develop and lead fun, informative programs to promote conservation and outdoor recreation.
- Park Maintenance: Inspect and maintain park facilities, ensuring cleanliness and safety.
- Enforcement: Patrol parks to enforce rules, issue citations and handle conflicts or emergencies.
- Wildlife Preservation: Monitor habitats and support efforts to protect local flora and fauna.
This position works multiple shifts including nights, weekends and some holidays.
Part-time positions are paid an hourly rate and can work up to a maximum of 129 hours per month. Part-time positions are at-will, are not eligible for health or retirement benefits and do not accrue leave time with the exception of State-mandated sick leave (40 hours per year).

Any combination of education and experience that would provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent is required. Equivalent to an Associate's degree with coursework in a related field is desirable.
Experience: One year experience in park operations, park regulations or semi-skilled maintenance work that included considerable contact with the public. Experience in criminal justice, code compliance or related field is desirable.
License/Certification: A valid California Class C Driver's License and a satisfactory driving record are conditions of initial and continued employment. Incumbents will be required to obtain first aid and CPR certification within 30 days of hire. Incumbents will be required to obtain certification to carry and use OC/pepper spray within one year of hire. All licenses and certifications must be kept current while employed in this class.
