The City of Vacaville is accepting applications for the position of Permit Technician in our Community Development Department. Currently one (1) vacancy exists for this position. This recruitment will also establish an eligibility list for future vacancies in this classification that may occur over the next 12-month period.
The Permit Technician is an exciting, dynamic and high-functioning position that operates in a fast-paced environment. This position plays a vital role in the building permit application process; all functions related to building permits begin and end with this position. It is responsible for providing information to the public, contractors, and developers on all aspects of the building permit process, including planning and building inspections, reviewing building permit applications and related documents for completeness and compliance with relevant codes, regulations, and policies, calculating fees and managing building permit applications through the review process.
Salary Information:
$63,029-$76,613/Annually

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities is:
Education: Equivalent to graduation from high school, supplemented with college courses or other training in building construction, technical engineering, architecture, community development, or other related field.
Experience: Three years of increasingly responsible clerical or technical work, including one year providing assistance in community development, building permits, plan checking, building inspection, construction engineering, or other similar work.
Certificate: Possession of a Building Permit Technician certificate is desirable or must be obtained prior to the completion of the probationary period.
Other: English/Spanish bilingual skills are desirable.A completed City of Vacaville Employment Application and Supplemental Questionnaire must be received by Human Resources at 650 Merchant Street, Vacaville, CA 95688 by 5:30 p.m., Monday, February 24, 2025.
