General Statement of Job
Performs semi-skilled manual labor and skilled tasks in the inspection, installation, maintenance, repair and replacement of all equipment and facilities at the Venice Municipal Airport.
City Expectations:
Certain essential city services are required to be maintained in any civil emergency. Depending upon the type of emergency, any and all employees may be activated as essential employees in the event of an emergency.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Functions:
1. Inspects runways, taxiways, parking aprons, navigational aids, generators, security systems, fuel systems, hangars, buildings, grounds and all other airport facilities as assigned.
2. Performs the installation, maintenance, repair and replacement of all components of the department operations including but not limited to electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, roof repairs, pavement repairs and wildlife management.
3. Operates, cleans and performs minor maintenance on motorized construction, mowing, sweeping and other maintenance equipment.
4. Transports supplies, tools, or other material to and from job site.
5. Maintains assigned records and report forms required by the City and/or regulatory agencies accurately and legibly.
6. Accurately maintains all local, county, state and federal work orders, records (including testing and inspection), reports, forms, and other required documentation.
7. Exercises due care and diligence to protect the health, safety and welfare of the citizens.

Responsibilities:
Responsible for the timely and accurate completion of work assignments following established safety practices. Responsible for the appropriate use and care of city-issued equipment. Responsible in work to the Airport Operations and Maintenance Supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Education and Training
Level I (Grade 120)
High School graduate or equivalent. One (1) year experience in maintenance and electrical occupations are required.
Possess a valid Florida Driver’s license, free of any serious violations or ability to obtain in state license within 30 days from date of hire.
Minimum Qualifications and Standards Required
Skill Requirements:
Knowledge of applicable methods, materials, equipment and techniques used in the airport maintenance area. Ability to work independently of direct supervision and capable of sustaining regular and predictable attendance. Knowledge of OSHA and National Electrical Code requirements with awareness of occupational hazards and safety measures. Ability to safely operate all motorized equipment used in the airport maintenance section. Ability to communicate effectively; understand and follow oral and written instructions and maintain/interpret records, prints, maps, plans, and diagrams. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, fellow employees, and the general public.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit, stand, walk, climb, bend, stoop, reach, and lift up to 40 pounds. Physical exertion large part of job. Ability to work outside in all kinds of weather and for prolonged periods of time. Must have good eyesight and hearing with or without aides. Must possess excellent hand and eye coordination. Supplemental Information
Working Conditions:
Work is performed both indoors and outdoors during all types of weather conditions. May also work in runways, taxiways or roadways where vehicle traffic hazards exist.
