The City of Verona, Department of Public Works is recruiting to fill multiple Seasonal Streets/Utility Maintenance Worker positions for the summer of 2025!
As part of the Streets/Utility maintenance crew, this position performs manual, unskilled, or semi-skilled tasks in a wide variety of Streets/Utility maintenance operations. Decisions within the area of responsibility are made in consultation with the Street Superintendent, Utility Superintendent, Assistant Public Works Director and Public Works Director.
The Seasonal Streets/Utility Maintenance Worker position is a seasonal Limited Term Employment (LTE) position. It is anticipated that each position will run from late May/early June through the end of August. Seasonal Streets/Utility Maintenance staff are typically scheduled to work 40 hours per week (Monday-Thursday from 6:30am to 3:30pm and Friday mornings from 6:30am to 10:30am).

EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED: Examples of Work Performed: Examples of the specific tasks for the Seasonal Streets/Utility Maintenance Worker position include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Operate mowers and string trimmers for maintenance of all City properties.
- Operate pickup truck with and without a trailer.
- Perform minor storm utility maintenance.
- Minor fire hydrant maintenance.
- Valve turning.
- Street sign maintenance.
- Assist Street/Utility crew when needed.
- Relay any complaints to the Street or Utility Superintendent.
- All other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Experience/ability to drive mowers and pickup trucks.
- Must possess a valid Wisconsin Driver’s License.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
Work is performed outdoors (85%) and indoors (15%). Frequent exposure to hazardous or risk of bodily injury, heat/cold extremes, noise, vibration, odors, and dust. Occasional exposure to toxic conditions and poor ventilation. Seldom exerts 76-100 lb; exerts 31-75 lbs occasionally (up to 1/3 of the time); exerts 0-30 lbs frequently (up to 2/3 of the time). Frequently stands and walks; occasionally sits. Depending on the candidate, may be asked to use other equipment used to perform street/utility duties.
