Job Title: Events Coordinator
Under the general direction of the Communications & Public Engagement Director, the Events Coordinator will work on the communications team to plan and implement a variety of events for all ages and provide support for special events throughout the City.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, organize, and implement City community, special and city-sponsor events.
- Coordinate and implement City educational and enrichment events and programs.
- Represent the City at community events or meetings, civic organizations, or programs.
- Design and prepare promotional content, presentations as necessary.
- Maintain the inventory of event supplies and order materials required for events.
- Proactively communicate with internal and external partners regarding deadlines, expectations, timing, directions, etc.
- Seek grant opportunities and sponsorships to secure financial or in-kind contributions from local businesses, organizations and/or individuals.
- Collect feedback from participants, stakeholders, and staff to evaluate the success of events and identify areas for improvement.
Requirements:
- Associate degree in communications, event planning, hospitality, public relations, marketing or other closely related field.
- One-Year experience in event planning, event support, project management and/or community relations.
- Ability to occasionally work evening and weekend hours for special events and programs.
Preferred Requirements:
- A combination of education and experience to equal at least 4 years.
- Experience working with multiple departments and deadlines, diverse groups, vendors, partners, setup and cleanup of events, and vendor payments.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Excellent written communication skills, including knowledge of proper English spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
- Strong computer skills with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) and Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign).
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
