JOB SUMMARY
Under general supervision the Web/Support Technician is responsible for analysis, design, development and implementation of city web sites and other browser-based applications. The Web/Support Technician will meet with departments to identify project requirements, develop project plans and schedules; maintain web-based applications according to the department's specifications.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain browser-based applications.
- Design, develop and maintain City of Victoria Website(s) in cooperation with the Public Information Officer and Communications Committee.
- Design, develop and maintain City of Victoria intranet site(s) and ensure all sites are integrated.
- Interact with departments to establish applications and systems requirements for assigned projects.
- Test developed applications - including functional as well as user acceptance testing.
- Keep current with the latest versions of applications development software, techniques, and practices. Research and develop new ideas for browser applications.
- Audit and verify Website compliance in accordance with PCI standards, ADA requirements, and network security.
- Maintaining and archiving social media feeds such as Facebook in compliance with State guidelines.
- Provide appropriate end user training and technical documentation.
- Perform duties in a safe and orderly manner, complying with all City and department rules and guidelines.
- Assists the Help Desk with hardware, software, and other general IT issues.
- Performs related duties as required or assigned.
- Will be subject to On-Call rotation for after-hours support.
PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
Work is performed in a standard office environment. Ability to move about an office and transport self from building to building. Ability to drive a vehicle to and from various work sites.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Training, and Experience Guidelines
Associate degree in Computer Science or related field is preferred. One to three years’ experience of database design principles and experience with using databases in a web-based environment.
Knowledge of:
- Applicable local, State, and Federal laws, codes, regulations, and ordinances.
- Knowledge of HIPAA Security rule, HITECH, and Payment Card Industry (PCI).
- Experience with Adobe Acrobat Pro, mainly creating adobe fillable forms.
- Experience with ASP, .Net, HTML, JAVA, and/or other development language programming.
- Experience in developing solutions for web page design, development, and implementation.
- Extensive knowledge of browser designed applications and website construction.
- Customer service principles, practices, and etiquette.
- Social media platforms.
- Knowledge of database applications in Microsoft SQL Server and experience with Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio
- Experience with Visual Studio
- Reading, understanding, and creating code.
- Identifying and resolving various technical issues.
- Artistic and creative ability is desirable.
- Providing general support and troubleshooting services to end-users.
- Ability to learn Adobe Acrobat Pro to create adobe fillable forms.
- Ability to communicate clearly with employees, citizens, and vendors over the phone and in person.
- Strong communications skills (oral and written) and ability to work collaboratively with other city employees.
