What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sanitation/Streets/Maintenance Floater position at City of Vidor?
SCHEDULE: TUESDAY – SATURDAY 7:00AM – 3:30PM
SUMMARY:
Responsible for overseeing the operation of the Roll-Off Service to the general public and various duties in the Sanitation Department. This position will also occasionally assist the Streets & Drainage and Maintenance Departments as assigned.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
- Accept and document payments for the Roll-Off service two days per week
- Ability to learn to operate an excavator to pack the Roll-Off dumpsters
- Direct customers in compliance with all policies of the City in addition to state and federal regulations regarding the collection and disposal of solid waste
- Complies with all policies of the City in addition to state and federal regulations regarding the collection and disposal of solid waste
- Assists the Sanitation Department as needed.
- Assists the Street & Drainage Department as needed
- Assists the Maintenance Department as needed
- Complies with all policies of the City in addition to state and federal regulations regarding the collection and disposal of municipal solid waste
- Provides quality customer service to the public
- Closely monitors safety matters and reports to the Sanitation Supervisor any recommendations to make operations less hazardous
- Reports all accidents to immediate supervisor whether being an injury or worker’s compensation
- Maintains harmony among fellow workers and helps resolve grievances within the department and promotes effective working relationships with all departments of the City
- Other job duties as assigned
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma and two years experience in related clerical field.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret books, professional journals, book reviews, forms, reports, correspondence, computer screen, city/departmental policies, procedures, and statistics. Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Basic math skills required
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to prioritize assignments and the ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with and solve problems using the best alternatives under the existing situation.

Valid Class B Commercial Driver’s Licensure with air brake endorsement, preferred
Stable work history
Must pass physical examination
